Museum Closures Due to Severe Weather

With the impending threat of severe weather, including the high risk of tornadoes and dangerous weather in West and Central Alabama, normal UA operations will be suspended at 12:30 p.m. today. This means that the Alabama Museum of Natural History, the Gorgas House Museum, the Paul W. Bryant Museum, the Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum, and Moundville Archaeological Park will all be closed. Normal Operations resume on February 17, 2023.

All classes, including those conducted online or remotely, and events are canceled as of 12:30 p.m. Libraries, recreation centers and other campus facilities will close. Check the Bama Dining website for operating hours and locations. Any adjustments to the start time of tonight’s women’s basketball game will be determined soon. Check rolltide.com for additional details.

Campus storm shelters will open if and when a tornado watch is issued by the National Weather Service and are available to all students, faculty and staff, including those who live off campus. During a tornado watch or warning, students can use any legal parking in proximity to a shelter or refuge area.

When a tornado watch or warning is issued for the campus area, a UA Alert will be sent. Make sure your contact information is updated in myBama to receive all UA Alerts.

While our normal severe weather guidelines and processes automatically trigger protocols during bad weather events, the University is taking these actions early in anticipation of severe weather today.

Stay weather aware. Download the UA Safety app for weather updates and other safety-related information. Information about severe weather affecting Tuscaloosa and UA is also available on 92.5 FM UA Info Radio.
