Moundville Native American Festival
October
6-9, 2004
One
of Alabama’s Top 20 Tourism Events and designated a Cultural
Olympiad Event, the annual Moundville Native American Festival will
be held October 6-9, 2004 at The University of Alabama’s Moundville
Archaeological Park. There, Native American performing artists,
craftspeople, and musicians will entertain and educate visitors
about the rich culture and heritage that makes Southeastern Indians
unique.

Described as the Big Apple of the 14th century and a National Historic
Landmark, Moundville Archaeological Park contains 320-acres of more
than 20 preserved prehistoric Indian mounds, campgrounds, picnic
areas, a boardwalk nature trail, a theater, a riverbend lodge on
the Black Warrior, and museum of some of the finest Mississippian-era
artifacts ever found in North America.

park is open daily, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; the museum is open daily, 9 a.m.-5
p.m. Group discounts are available. A variety of programs for children
and adults are offered teaching Native American culture, arts, and

Moundville Archaeological Park is just 14 miles outside The University
of Alabama campus at 1 Mound State Pkwy. in Moundville, south of
I-20/59 and Tuscaloosa off Alabama Highway 69.
